Making things happen

The fitness group I belong to have ‘Hot Yoga’ on a Monday morning. That’s a more exciting name than ‘Bikram Yoga’ isn’t it?
Anyhow I arrived at the gym at 6.00 a.m. like I normally do. I like to warm up on either the steppers or crosstrainers before the commencing time at 6.15 a.m. I noticed my trainer hadn’t arrived at 6.15 a.m. to take the class, so I kept on working out.
I was watching the other participants enter the room and thought I may have missed the trainer’s arrival so headed off for the class. When I entered the room he still wasn’t there and everyone else was looking at each other and wondering where he was. By this time it was 6.20 a.m.
This was very unusual as Marc always arrives early and is punctual. I quickly headed back into the gym and continued my workout.
Apparently he had overslept and did arrive about 20 minutes later. By that time I had nearly completed my own training so didn’t bother joining the class.
What was interesting is that most of the group sat around waiting for something to happen, rather than use that time effectively.
I’m glad they didn’t work for me. What if you’re the boss and didn’t show up, would your team sit back and wait or would they take the initiative and make the most of their time?
