Be Persistent…There is Always a Solution

By Lorraine | February 23, 2007

Hi

Decided to go the gym this morning as it was actually raining for a change in Melbourne.  If you’re not aware of it ,many parts of Australia are going through a drought including Melbourne… hardly had much rain at all.

Anyhow it was still dark when I arrived at the gym and there was minimal lighting.  Apparently there was a power black-out in the area, yet I found there was just enough light to do a work-out if you’re creative enough.

As I entered the gym the receptionist said it would be a waste of time coming in as most of the power was out.  This was confirmed by a couple of other members who were standing around waiting to see what was going to happen next.

People were walking in and headed straight back out the door when they heard the news.

Not concerned about that, I started my workout in the aerobics room which had enough light so I could see what I was doing.  About 20 minutes later the receptionist informed the members who were determined to exercise that management wanted to close the centre until power had been restored.

Now I know that most of the members left and returned to their homes.  Again unperturbed I put my workout bag in the car and went off on a run.

By then it was drizzling, not pouring with rain and within 5 minutes the rain had stopped.

Thirty minutes later I returned to find the gym had reopened.

I could have done what most of the members did earlier and that was give up  and go home.  To me it was a matter of not wasting the time I had planned to exercise, regardless of the situation.

You see there is always a solution, just don’t give up at the first obstacle…and how often does that happen in your business and your life when you’re told ‘it can’t be done’ or you waste your precious time doing what other people tell you to do?

Be persistent and determined.  When you know what your goal is, and in this instance mine was to exercise, I wasn’t going to give up…and make sure you don’t either!

Regards

Lorraine
