Occupational Health and Safety

Did you realise the impact your work environment can have on your health?
If you’re suffering from aches and pains from sitting behind your computer all day, you need to make a few changes. Sit up straight and make sure you have lumbar support. Type with your computer screen directly in front of you …at arm’s length. Your screen should be at eye level with your head in a neutral position. Twisting your body whilst typing is sure to create problems in your spine long-term. Stand up every 20 minutes for a quick stretch. Move around as much as possible. Ensure the desk and the seat you have are appropriate for your needs.
One of my clients was extremely tall and used to work hunched over a laptop. The warning signs were there, however he chose to ignore them…until one day he couldn’t get out of bed. Spent the next 6 weeks on intensive physiotherapy and rehab. He was an accident waiting to happen.
You can avoid the dangers of office work by following these simple tips.
